The London Borough of Barnet has formally adopted the masterplan developed by JSA for Copthall Playing Fields and Mill Hill Parks. This is Barnet’s second major investment in infrastructure for parks and sports following the adoption in 2016 of its Parks and Open Spaces Strategy.
The fifteen-year programme for investment was developed by JSA, supported by Erect Architects, Shared Assets, Huntley Cartwright, Orconslt and Motion. Proposals include new park hub buildings for Copthall and Mill Hill Park, new park spaces, a network of new footpaths and cycleways connecting a suite of six public open spaces across Hendon and Mill Hill, a range of sports, play and leisure investments across all sites, new branding and public realm design guidelines and a range of habitat and bio-diversity improvements.
The masterplan report also included proposals for new funding and governance arrangements for Mill Hill’s parks, a capital investment strategy and revenue expenditure plan. Work to identify funding to develop a range of initial investment proposals will proceed later in 2018 following a period of formal consultation.
